| Tomorrow I am going to Vans Warp Tour with my boyfriend. It is over 3 hours away and is from 11 am to around 9 pm. So, logically my first thought is my dogs and what I am going to do with them. I decided to go with Dog Vacay. Basically, it's people who board your dog in their home! Pretty sweet if you ask me. I searched through hosts near me and I landed on a Vet. She had completed all the necessary training and had awesome credentials.
We got up to Omaha around 7:45 tonight. My first thought was the back yard fence; way too small at only about 5 ft. I mentioned not the leave any of them outside unattended because they are Sibes and they are houdini's. I of course was freaking out anyway because this is the first time all of my babies were spending the night away from home. After I dropped them off, me and the boyfriend went shopping for a new outfit (Warp Tour isn't exactly my scene lol..) and we went to Old Chicago. My phone started ringing and it was my Vacay host. My heart dropped. Kennedy and Sheba had jumped the fence and were missing. She had called two of her friends, Dog Vacay, and the local ASPCA. I had an asthma attack right there in the resturant. I'm pretty sure I tipped our waitress like $10 too LOL, but oh well. I was freaking out because the host lives ON Henry Doorley Zoo property and the zoo is right on the interstate (basically). I'm pretty sure I was close to a heart attack. When I was about 10 minutes away, I got a text saying Kennedy was found safe but Sheba was still missing. We pulled up the house and I jumped out of the car and tried my hardest to call Sheba's name as happily as I could (I was dying on the inside LOL). THANK GOD THAT GIRL HAD HER COLLAR ON! I heard her tags behind me. I think she had followed the car and was trying to get back into the fence. I hauled ass up to the house and there was my baby girl..covered in mud and water and blood. I said, "Come here baby girl!" and she sprinted into my arms and was howling and screaming and crying into my ears and I have never been so happy to see that girl.
Apparently what had happened was the Ares had taken a dump in her living room and she put the three of them outside to clean it up. When she went out to go get them, the girls were gone and Ares was trying to figure out how to get out (bless his soul..). Her friends had seen Kennedy and Sheba literally just walking side by side on the sidewalk. I can't help but wonder what those two were thinking about! I don't know if they had decided I was missing and they were going to find me or what, but I am so glad they are safe.
Sheba has some very strange cuts though. Her paw pads have never been cut up, yet they were basically destroyed and she had even torn the pad up on her leg (can't remember what it is called for the life of me!).. Can anyone think of how that could possibly happen??
So, moral of the story; things can happen in the blink of an eye. Never think you are invincible and that nothing will happen to you. Loosing my two loves was all too real of a thing tonight..I never want to go through that again. I am still pretty shaken up, but they are asleep, safe and sound.
Hug your babies extra tight tonight! |

| I am so sorry that this happened to you! My friend by accident let Siku out of her house one day while I was there and she lives right by a busy road and I was hyper ventilating during that whole experience and I was actually there, I can't imagine what it would be like to be out of town. My boyfriend hates it but this is why I won't take a vacation away from the dogs yet, cause I just can't find anyone that I trust enough yet to watch them the way that I would. I'm so glad that this had a happy ending, and I'm sure they were just missing you! But I bet that stress took like ten years off your life! haha. |

| Oh wow! That is rough! I am so nervous to leave Dizzy anywhere! If/when we go on vacay, I will probably just make the 3.5 hour trip up to his breeder and drop him off with her, she has a boarding kennel. Even my dog walker, who I trusted, made me nervous. She said he was aggressive and "lunging" at other dogs. I was like um, well, he's a husky puppy and wants to play 24/7, so you can't ever let your guard down with him. Daycare is pretty much fixing this issue thank God! Most people just can't handle huskies. I hope she fixed up your pups pads for nothing. I would guess the paw injuries may have happened on the fence. What kind of fence is it? She could have been jumping against it or maybe scaled it. I would guess they were hurt by some kind of digging or pushing action. I'm so glad you got them all back in relatively one piece! Are you still able to go to the concert? If that had been me, I would have probably had a panic attack, followed by a heart attack, followed by a screaming fit and crying my eyes out! |

| Wow see this is what scares me and why I do the horrible thing and have them stay in a kennel because the fences are so tall there. Injuries are probably from the fence it might not have been a jump out but a scale teh fence out. Very likely that was what it was Bourbon has literally climbed up and over our fence no jumping needed. Glad you got them back so fast. |

| Oh god that is so scary! I'm so glad you got your girls back though.
This is why I won't let anyone in my family take care of Mishka if I ever have to leave (which I will later this year). It's sad, but I trust a boarding kennel more than I do my own family to take care of him and make sure he doesn't run out or anything. _________________ |

| OMG!!!
WHAT HAPPENED?! Did you end up leaving them with the Vacay host? Did you go to Warped Tour? Did you have to pay anything at all?
I WOULD DIE. And that's because I only have one dog. |

| I am so glad they are safe and home with you now.. Our previous dog we took to the vet for boarding when we went on vacation to France while we were gone she got away when they were walking her. I have so upset we couldn't come back they did look for her but she was not found until we got home and we went looking for her..
I will not leave my dogs with family I just don't trust them to keep them safe and not let them get loose.

| I would dieee oh my god. I always get nervous taking my dogs to daycare, but thankfully their setup is great and i doubt we'll ever have issues. the fence is over 6ft tall and when you leave the daycare room they'd need to get through the gate, a door and then another inorder to get outside.
I don't trust really anyone with my dogs, I would never really trust my family to watch more then 1 of them at a time, so they go to a professional boarding facility when we're gone. They get kennel runs that are half inside and half outside, and they board them all in the same run for me, and they whole outside is fenced for when they go out to play. |

| Yeah always be careful who you leave your dogs with. Short story, my dad's friend had a German Shepard who was only 3 years old and loved that dog to bits. He went on vacation and had him stay with his vet for the week. The dog slipped his collar and got hit by a car, no one told him till he got back. This whole mess is still tied up in court. To end the story on a good note he got another German Shepard puppy named Whisky and HE"S SO FLUFFY! |

I ended up leaving them there last night. I didn't want to, I wanted to just bring them home. But we had made plans with another friend to give them a ride to the Tour, so we couldn't exactly back out. I couldn't put them in an actual boarding place because I didn't have Ares' shot records. She swore she wouldn't leave them unattended outside and the would only take them outside on their leashes. Honestly, I wanted to throttle her, I was so mad!!! I told Chris that if one of them ends up missing for the night or worse, that he cannot hold me back (I've been doing my Les Mills Combat workout, and it's a MMA based workout ). |

| I did end up going to the concert and I had a pretty good time. She sent me pictures every hour (per my new request) and did not take them outside without their leashes. I can honestly say I will NEVER use Dog Vacay again. The thought behind it is awesome, but I will never trust anyone to watch my dogs ever again.
I also refuse to leave them with family members. They don't understand their energy level or the fact that they can't "let them off leash to run", like they think they can. So aggravating.
The reason I put them in Dog Vacay was because all day care/ boarding centers around me require dogs to be altered and UTD on shots. Sheba is not spayed yet (waiting until 16mo. or after her second heat, which ever comes first), and I had not received Ares' records until the night before we brought them up to boarding. I REFUSE to leave them at PetSmarts day care or PetsHotel... So, short of a vet clinic, I thought Vacay was a wonderful idea.
For now, I am being charged the full $95 for one night. I am going to call Dog Vacay and get that fixed though. Even though my girls were found, they still got loose!!! Like, seriously?? If they think they are going to get away with that they have another thing coming!!!
I think I answered everyone's questions LOL. I will update this when I get off the phone with Dog Vacay. I think it is TOTAL BS they think they have the right to charge me... |

| Omg I would've flipped why'd she put them outside to clean up poo? did she not have another room especially after you told her not to leave them outside unattended because they're escape artists |

| I definitely would not being paying full price, or probably anything really especially where you specifically told her to not let them outside alone and she ignored your request and did not take you seriously. Plus you had to interrupt your plans and come home to look for your animals. If I were you I would be beyond crazy right now! Plus I LOVE that you made her send you pictures every hour! |
