| Well, the inevitable happened. We were attacked by 2 pit bulls tonight.
Within 1000 feet from my house, Juno and I were encountered by 2 pitbulls. At first, they seemed friendly... sniffed her butt and what not. Then the smaller female growled at us, causing Juno to growl back. She lunged at me and I kicked her hard in the jaw.
I started yelling for help and no one came. I tried going around the dogs but the large pitbull ran around behind us and attacked Juno. The dog had hold on Junos hind leg and when I kicked at him, he did not respond. When Juno Yelped louder, I ended up shooting him.
I feel really bad for having to pull my firearm out and use it in self defense against a dog... Even right now, I feel like crap. I tried everything I possibly could... but when Juno yelped, I decided it's over. The cops came and took a report and animal control came to ask questions about the dogs. One pitbull is still loose in my neighborhood... so cops are out searching for it.
A 200 dollar vet bill sucks, but it's better than her losing a leg or having to be buried. |

| You were put in a situation that any dog owner fears to be in. And when it comes down to it, these dogs are our families. Juno appreciates you having her back. I know you feel bad, I know I would be feeling that way, but you took care of Juno. It's horrible to have to shoot a dog, because we all love them, but I can't imagine what it's like to come across a charging pit bull. I hope I never have to. I don't know how people can just let their dogs run rampant. It shows that having defense on a walk is something that may actually be needed.
I'm glad to hear Juno is going to be okay. And I hope you'll be okay too. This isn't something a pet owner should have to experience. I'm sorry. |

| Omg I'm so glad she's ok you had no choice but to shoot them. ...pitbulls are stubborn and don't let go once they latch on |

| That stinks. Fighting and/or killing dogs even when in self defense is a shame. Although it's a good thing you were able to protect yourself or the outcome could have been much worse... |

| It ultimately comes down to Juno or them, and to be honest you did the right thing. Juno is your responsibility, you did what was necessary to protect her. I'm sorry you had to use such force, but you protected yourself and your pup. |

| So happy to hear you and Juno are safe. Really makes me think I need to get my concealed carry when I hear stories like this one. You had to do what you did. |

| It's a shame that the dogs requiring the most responsible owners seem to attract the least responsible owners. Tragedy on your part, your dogs part, and the downed dogs part, and the truly responsible party is no where to be found. |

| So glad Juno is ok. I know that had to be tough but I think you did the right thing. You had to protect Juno and yourself. Obviously the owners of the pit bulls were not responsible and those dogs could be a danger to others. Imagine if the pit bull had gotten a hold of a smaller dog- it would have been over before it started. It's a shame you had to shoot the dog since it is not the dogs fault it was raised so poorly, but once a dog like that is in such a situation there aren't a lot of options... |

| Omg intense story! Glad you both are ok, sorry you had to use such force and rightfully so feel bad but it was warrented. Kaia got attacked by a pit pull at the dog park once when she was about 6months old...luckily there was a guy there (with a husky) who I had been talking to. I was trying to pull the dog off and got my finger caught in his prong collar (which I believe should be removed at a dog park) but the guy came over and literally drop kicked the attacking dog. I was very thankful for him being there and helping otherwise idk the outcome. The owner saw the whole situation, did nothing, and then was mad force was used to remove his dog. People are very irresponsible. Hopefully the police find the dog before it hurts/attacks anyone else, maybe they can find the owner to cover your bet bill (unlikely but maybe!) |

| I take it that in TN you can get a concealed carry permit. These stories are so scary and I am so glad you and your dog are ok! It scares me to think what would have happened had you not the means to defend yourself. |
