2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Puppy ears Empty
PostSubject: Puppy ears   Puppy ears EmptySat Jun 29, 2013 10:11 pm

I dont really know where I should post this but whatever. So my two husky dogs recently had puppies. We have basically sold all the puppies but one. These dogs were born on may 8, meaning that they are almost two months old now. I don't know about the other puppies, but the one we have left's ears are not standing up. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is there a way to make their ears stronger?

Are you sure the parents were 100% husky? It can sometimes take a dogs ears longer to stand up than others. But there's really no way to make them stand up, they just have to do it on their own.

I'm not sure if there is an actual time frame but I know that one can be up and the next day the other is up and one is down. Both my guys came from the same breeder and both had both ears up at 8 weeks when we got them.

Dragon's ears were up by 7 weeks, but he had litter mates that took 8-9 weeks to stand up. That's roughly 2 months so I wouldn't worry.

Some of it depends on the ears themselves, if the ears are too thin and over sized they may not stand. At roughly 8 weeks you still have some time though.

Mishka's ears were both up at 5 weeks. At 6 weeks his right ear had fallen back down and at 8 weeks his left ear had fallen but his right was back up. It took another week or so for them both to be back standing. So yeah, it all depends.
