| alright first of all im new to this sight, so hello.
Heres the thing, i just picked up my husky puppy on this previous wednesday and she is 7 weeks old(yea a bit young but had no choice under the circumstances). she is cute, loving, playful and for the most part really well behaved so far. crate training went outstanding, she hasnt went potty once in the house. but here is the problem, when ever we let her run around the house she runs to our other dogs cage and trys to eat the dogs food, and becomes aggressive when we pull her away from the food or try to redirect her. now i hand feed her and let her eat out of a bowl and have no problems with her own food, but when i take her away from the other dogs food she gets pissed. now we are working on her bite inhibition and its going pretty good but when the aggresive side comes out it doesnt work because shes mad, so i put her in a small dark room until she calms down, but she goes back after she is out and does it again....any advice??? |

| also to add to this, she wants to chew everything including the girlfriend and i (pretty normal i know) she has plenty of toys and we redirect her but the floor, my arm, bed, couch, blankets...etc, are more exciting to her then her toys. i praise her everytime she chews on a toy and redirect everytime its something i dont want but it usually ends up going for me and if i turn and ignore her to get her to stop biting me. she'll see i dont want to play anymore so it will go back to the carpet..lol.. any advice on this stuff would be very helpful
i keep telling myself she is young and it will pass with patience and persistence |

| Part of the issue of her biting you is that she was taken from her mother and littermates so young. With Karli, if she tried to use me as a chew toy, I'd stick an actual toy in her mouth. This really worked and we never had much issue in this area.
I don't have another dog, so I really don't know what to tell you about the other dog's food except maybe not leave it down all day? I feed Karli twice a day and she eats her food in one sitting. If your other dog isn't eating its food all in one sitting, I'd remove it and put it back down throughout the day. Your puppy can't get aggressive over the food if it isn't there. |

| yea the puppy biting we are working on i understand, the young age and the fact she left early, she only play bites and were working on what is acceptable and what isnt, the biggest problem is when redirected or ignored, she is bored with it, i was thinking of getting that bitter spray and trying that. the other dog (a boston terrier) she gets along with fine and will share the food with her and you can put your hand in the dish even its just when removing her away from it she becomes angry. so i dont think its territorial problem, but it kinds of stumps me, we have to put her in time out when ever we remove her from the food because of the aggressive behavior |

| I have other pets and my puppy is not allowed to eat their food. However, it is only left out while I can monitor him and the other pets and then put away. Do you take her from the food or the food from her? Above you said when I take her away from the food. When Loki does get to my dogs food, I pick up the food and say no. Then, I provide him his food. Once your dog knows leave it, you may be able to leave out the food depending on the dog. However, playing with food is hard as some food is just not good for puppies - like my cat's food or my senior dog's prescription diet food. I find in this case, it is best to just control the food that everyone gets daily. Controlling the food also helps make you aware if a particular pets eating habits have changed as this is usually one of the first indicators that something is wrong in a animal. Welcome to the world of multi pet family. |

| Also, have you heard of nothing in life is free training? She gets aggressive because you are taking it away and not giving her anything in return, so she knows she wont get anything back. When you go to take the food away from her, give her something better, a treat that is of higher value then your other dog's food, like for us, cheese is a very good treat to give. Or a wheat thin or something that your pup really loves. It will distract her long enough that you can remove the food without her getting aggressive. |

| I take her away from the food and if she doesnt freak out i bring her to her own food and she'll eat that. i can take the food from her no problem. its more of when i try to keep her from going into the other dogs kennel.
and yes i do the "nilift" she already has a good understanding that i am the one who gives her, her food, and that she must sit and wait for me to set it down before she can eat it. she eats out of my hand no problem shares all her toys, food, etc.. when ever going outside she sits at the door before ill open it, i go out first. its almost like when i take her from the food/kennel, she becomes scared... i dont yell at her or hit or any physical. if she bites ill yelp or grab her lower jaw gentle and tell her no but when i let it go does it again. i try to redirect her too. the other dog has gone three years with food just in her kennel and grazes throughout the day and i would like for her to continue and to teach the dogs that the other dogs kennel is not theirs to go in to.
i was thinking tonight after work about removing the food from the other kennel let her see inside cause i think her fascination with the kennel, is that we wont let her in there |
