| My male Husky has a woolly coat and he can become a mess. We take him to a groomer to have his legs and rear end cleaned up. They also thin the under coat. We never had to do this with our previous Huskies. Can regular grooming cause problems in this breed, like possible skin problems?

| I would not thin the undercoat - Get a really good grooming rake, if you need suggestions please ask, a greyhound comb, a slicker brush and a spray bottle.
Mix a little bit of coconut oil in warm water and put into spray bottle for detangling. |

| I use this for brushing out the undercoat. http://www.amazon.com/Oster-Professional-Grooming-Undercoat-Coarse/dp/B00061MWJ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372742292&sr=8-1&keywords=oster+undercoat+rake
Woolies are higher maintenance than regular Siberians. Their fur is softer, longer and tangles easier. Weekly brushing is a must. |

| Our first husky Zoe is a wooly coat. She's definitely more high maintenance than our other girls. Her problem areas are her tail and hind quarters because in 9 years I have never been able to get her used to being brushed in those areas. She gets really nervous anytime we get close, and she is prone to mats in those areas. My best friend when working with her is a nice undercoat rake. I would not recommend getting the undercoat thinned. |
