| Subject: Powdered Lime? Sat Jun 29, 2013 3:24 pm | |
| So recently I've noticed Lycus has started to pick up ticks again... I've been keeping him clean and I went to inspect outside and our yard is INFESTED with ticks! I haven't even been letting Lycus go out there right now. I've been taking him out for walks for just potty breaks instead of just letting him out into the yard. I've sprayed a pesticide while watering the grass to kill the ticks but it wasn't very effective. I've been doing research to see what can help get rid of ticks, or at least reduce the amount in the yard. I keep coming across powdered lime. I was curious as to see if any one has used this before and how effective it is. I also wanted to know if it's safe to use around dogs. I know I can buy it here locally. Another thing, I'm about to go buy some tick/flea preventatives for Lycus. I was curious as to what is the best option. I've used Frontline before but it only kills some of them, but it doesn't keep repelling. I've been looking into the K9 Advantix ii and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? Or even any other suggestions? I remember getting advice and using the oils because they're very effective but I do have cats that come in contact with Lycus quite a bit so the oils are out of the question. Here is the thread about the tick repellent from before: https://www.itsahuskything.com/t5447-a-good-tick-repellant?highlight=tickAny suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance! |

| I've read that lime is good for drying up a number of pests in the yard, similar to the way diatomaceous earth does. I haven't ever needed to try it in my yard though as the essential oils have worked well enough for us. I used to use Advantix and my dogs were still consistently picking up ticks. That's what ultimately pushed me to essential oils and they've worked like a charm since I started using them. _________________ |

| The Preventick collar is the only thing that got it under control here. Works for 3 months. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |
