Oh, my bad, I didn't realize that Yuki was so young.  Makes sense.

I have named two dogs in my life, both Nintendo characters.  The first was a Pekingese named Yoshi when I was 10, and now my little buddy of course Smile BTW, red Link has a special place in my heart.  He seems awesome, and my Husky #2 is ideally a red/white.

Oh no worries! It seems so long ago since I brought her home, she seems so much older. She will definitely be in the 2014 videos Very Happy And thank you! Link found a special place in our hearts and that's what kept him here Smile

So jealous of that bike trail! The only places near me are concrete and that KILLS Pippa's paws.

He is doing so great! He seems to really love it. Also really cool to see Kay and Maya (I think?)! Love that one where you and Kay get behind them and she is clearly not ok being in the back. So funny.

How far did you guys go?

Oh, and the GoPro is a really tough, waterproof camera that can attach to just about anything. Cars, bikes, helmets, etc.

Yup i took Maya and Kay with me, Sophie can be a little weird with the pulling and i wanted to see how well Maya and Kay did together. She definitely doesn't like being in the back. Razz

We didn't go very far, the pups get tired pretty quick. My girls don't have much endurance yet.

Ahh, I should get a GoPro but I love my little nikon ❤We drove about 20 minutes to get to the bike trail. It was raining and thundering at first but the storm was headed south so we decided to go ahead and try to go anyway and sure enough by the time we got everything loaded and got up there, the rain was gone :DWe were getting hooked up and started about 6:10pm and we were done by 7:03pm. I'd say 30 to 40 minutes of it was solid running or walking, the rest was stopping, switching dogs, etc.

Kay was very adorable, you fell literally RIGHT before my un-edited part 2 my camera started recording like 3 seconds after you fell. I was depressed I didn't capture it.

Yup and like I said before it was probably 30-40min, Link doesn't have much stamina yet either but we are currently building it, his normal bike rides are usually 20min.

Another day, another ride! Temperatures are cooling down and we're finally starting to go out again. Link got a new x-back harness too! Our first run with it was kinda terrible, I just amounted it to him having a bad day. The second one was much better and more like normal for him, so I was pleased.

Very cool! What is your setup in the front? I see an extension.

I can't wait to get to do this with Mishka! I still have over a year to wait though. Lol.

You're not starting at 18 months? A lot of people told me I could start at 12mo and a lot said 18mo, so I waited til 18mo, and Link is now 20mo. Yuki is 14mo and will start with us at 18-24mo depending on how I feel she is growth wise since shes so petite.

As for the set-up, its something I asked my co-workers at a hardware store to help me make. For the first time we got Link's leash caught in the wheel the other day and he started being skittish of the bike so I wanted something to prevent it from happening again. What I bought was a 3/4 inch 2ft piece of PVC, a 3/4 inch PVC coupling, a U-bolt, and some kind of fastener to make the loop. At first I just got the pipe and fastener, then went back for the u-bolt and coupling. Overall cost me about $4-$5 to make. Oh, and the line I used is the extra Walky Dog line that came with my walky dog if the first one ever broke. Since it was originally made to have a dog pull on it I figured I'd use it. Using the u-bolt was awesome because it won't go up/down, but it can swing left/right to allow Link to run alongside my bike but not get tangled in the wheel.
A pic of the attachment part

Very cool!

Well maybe I exaggerated a bit. I still have 10 months to wait until he's 18 months. Lol. It's almost a whole year it feels like.

I'm going to start using the walky dog with him when it cools down a bit so he gets used to the bike and it'll be shorter sessions to not damage him, but I'll start pulling activities with him when he's 18 months.

Ah gotcha, I was just confused for a second wondering if I should be waiting longer with Link. The walky dog was /very/ handy for me to teach Link commands. He had to move with the bike, when I said hike we started going, I applied the brakes and said woah and he had to slow down, and he caught on really quick which I think is thanks to it. I've now passed it on to Abby to use until Yuki's ready to train. It's a lot of fun, and I'm sure Mishka will love it!

It is! I actually ended up taking Yuki out on her first run too, no pulling, just running alongside the bike, for about 5 minutes. She did surprisingly well, I've got hope for them!

How do you begin the training for that?

I'm sure Lycus would just drag me off to a side lol.

For Link or Yuki?
With Link, I just used a Walky Dog bike attachment until he learned his commands, he was able to move with the bike as I said each command. He caught on very quickly and I let him pull in front after a week or two as he knew his commands way before I expected.

With Yuki, I am teaching her the commands on walks. When I go right and left I say those respectful commands, and use hike when we go to run and woah when we slow down and stop. On the bike ride today, I put her in her Walk Your Dog With Love harness, rather than a real pulling harness. Because we've done a lot of training on not pulling in the WYDWL, she kind of already knew she wasn't supposed to pull. It only took a couple corrections from me, braking and stopping if she didn't get back to the side, and after a couple attempts to pull in front she fell into place beside me. She also knew her commands already from regular walks so that helped immensely.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to start working on commands with Lycus. Hopefully we can go bikejoring as well one day.

Yay! Post pics/vids if you do, although I'll say it took me a while to be confident enough with Link's commands to chance using one hand to get a video, although I know Abby somehow puts a camera on front of her scooter to get videos.

Thank you!! Yes it was very hard waiting haha <3 I am very happy with how quickly she is catching on! One downside is now when I say 'woah' shes doesn't stop and Link has trouble stopping when shes still going, so we're still trying to get the hang of that. I think it'll be easier when I have her x-back harness because the point of attachment gives her a little more control at the moment. Hopefully the x-back will be here next week, will definitely post more videos then.

Have I ever mentioned how badly I want a Go Pro? I do apologize for all the shakiness and blurriness of the photos, they are taken with my phone xD

GoPros are awesome. Part of my work is in the film industry and I've used them a few times to get action-oriented shots, especially while driving, biking, etc. They're used a LOT in reality TV and in documentaries to supplement the coverage of the larger cameras. You can get mounts for them that have stability control and the video quality is just amazing (1080i) for such a little camera. They are pricey but since they've been out a while I think they've come down a lot. And ... the holidays are coming! Smile

I'm happy too - shes the one that got me into huskies after all! I really wish I could get a kicksled for the snow.. don't think it'd fit in the apartment with everything else though plus I really can't afford anything right now Razz Still have a car to fix D: ack!

I originally was gonna stick to my lil nikon, but my lil nikon broke D: so yeah, I'm hoping I'll get enough money from christmas to buy one. My familys kinda weird, they don't really all pitch in to get me one thing so instead they'll give me money and I'll just buy what I want xD I may have to use the money to get my car fixed though, but it should be fixed right before Christmas in which case I'll get the Go Pro Silver. A friend of mine got it and she bikejores with her huskies - I love both the still frame photos and the videos she gets. and I'll probably also get a mount as well. yay for the holidays coming!
