Hey guys! Long time!
Has anyone had trouble with the nylabone nutrident treats?
Ghost, our 8 year old newly rescued boy got into the case and ate about 15 of them. He seemed fine the first night and the emergency vet said that there was no need to induce vomiting because they are very digestible.
Here we are five days later and he is not eating at all. He is noticeably loosing weight and I am at my wits end.
We have been to three different vets and still can't get an answer. The first two said he was depressed and the treats wouldnt cause this...The most recent vet checked for worms, intestinal blockage and checked his liver/kidneys and came up empty.

Not to sound gross but his poop is very tar like, and he only poops a little bit at a time...which isn't too surprising since he isn't eating. All he wants to do is sleep and is just acting very lethargic.
He will drink water though.
He is being fed blue wilderness, so I took the baby bullet that I make my daughters baby food with and ground up his dry food with a can of wet dog food and a little water. I have to squirt it down his throat with a syringe. I started giving him about a cup of my "mixure" twice a day and he seems to be more responsive and will perk up when snow is around him, But has anyone ran into this or have suggestions on what I could do, or anything else I could be giving him?

Are there any holistic vets near you? I'm sure some of the floridians can send you in the right direction, maybe it's time to take a different approach.

There are so many iffy ingredients in those things, I'm sure that its being caused by that. You arent crazy. At this point, I'd keep him hydrated and worry less about food.

I live in Orlando and go to http://www.animalhospitalatbaldwinpark.com/ they're holistic and amazing. I've also heard there's another good one in Winter Garden if that is closer to you

6 vets later, with the latest being a hollistic and awesome vet, we are all back to normal!
He was given an enema and within hours his appetite came back and he looked so much better.
The other vets wanted to put him on depression medicine and told me not to worry he will eat when he is hungry.....this guy is ALWAYS hungry so I knew it had to be something else lol
He is down a good bit of weight...he was at roughly 65 and is now at 53, so hopefully we can slowly build him back up to where he needs to be!

So you had a good experience then?

Yes it was nice to have a vet that would listen to what I had to say and trusted that I knew that something was not medically right with him.
He was in fact blocked up, but instead of surgery an enema actually helped so much.
I should of went there before the others, because we spent $35 at the holistic vet, and almost $650 collectively at the others!

Pretty wild isn't it! I find tha tmost holistic vets are in it for reasons other than money...or to work for Merck & Merial.
