| Kaikoura loves to be outside and to go for walks but I don't want to risk overdoing it at such a young age (8.5 weeks). How long or far is too much? This morning I brought her on a short walk (about .6 of a mile) that lasted 40 min. She stopped to sit a bunch (loves to sit and observe everything) and we mixed in some jogging too. She loved it and was definitely pooped when we got back home. It gets hot around here, so I'm not bringing her far when the heat gets brutal, but in the morning and evening, I like to bring her to get some exercise.
Thanks for the insight guys! |

| Rule of thumb is 5 minutes for every month. So 10 minute walk at a time. 40 minutes is really long for such a small pup. Also it is not recommended that you jog or run until they are about a year old, before that it can cause stress on joints before they are fully developed. I would suggest you work on mental training to try and wear her out, it can be just as exhausting for them to be mentally stimulated as exercising. Teach her the basic commands, then go from there. |

That's what I feared. Thanks for the info. 40 min is a bit deceiving because we weren't walking the whole time, but yeah it's too much. I won't jog or run her anymore until she's older, but from now on, we'll go for far shorter walks I just want what's best for her! |

| My guy loved a laser pointer when he was that little, he's losing interest in that now that he's the ripe old age of 14 weeks but 15 minutes of chasing and pouncing on that would wear him out. |

At what age does the 5 mins. per month top off? Baron is 10 months now and he usually is pretty tired after the suggested (with the 5/month scale) 40 minutes of activity, and I'm curious to know how long that can apply. Thank you! |
