Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I hope he's alright health-wise. On a sidenote, I know huskies don't smell easily and that frequent baths are bad for them. In fact I read somewhere that bathed once a year is enough for Huskies.

PS: "and whenever we get rid of Malakia" - A typo, I know. That last word has a vulgar meaning in Greek, though...

I'd also like to point out that according to the report - there we 46 puppies at one time. How on God's green earth can someone maintain 46 puppies?

Agreed. That other breeder just imports all these dogs from out of country claiming them to be some amazing dogs, and she breeds woolys and thinks it's okay because she does OFA and CERF testing. Yeah.....no.

Innisfree is in MD, have you tried them?

Oh my God! We had actually emailed Celtic Acres about Malachi, something just seemed a little off, so we never followed through.

There is a small breeder near Philadelphia called Snocrest Siberians, their dogs are stunning (and are very well known in the show ring. They only have one or two litters a year, but their dogs are worth waiting for. Beautiful, healthy, well socialized dogs. They do full eye and hip certifications, offer health guarantees, and are really involved in making sure their dogs are well cared for.

Snocrest is a good breeder. I'm not sure where the OP is from but there is also Allure Siberians or Talini Siberians - both very good breeders as well that I would recommend over both C. Farms and Kooriyama.

FYI to all on this thread - if you put a space somewhere in the name of the kennel, google alerts cannot track what you said.

I usually stay out of threads like this, but this is 100% BYB.

19 litters in 2011.

17 in 2010!

5 pregnant females due this June/July, and 1 is gaining weight to be due at a later date.

Onyx was bred with the females TWELVE TIMES in 2011. That's once a month! On the 'past puppies 2011' list, his picture alternated between two different pictures of him.

Shame on these people.

Out of curiosity, what makes this a byb not a puppy mill? Is that its limited just to huskies? At the rate they are producing puppies, I would tend to call them a puppy mill.

Well, it can be both. And it probably is.

BYB - Breeding without certification (but it says they are AKC, so the probably do have certification).
-Sale of animals with genetic disorders or undisclosed illnesses before they become evident to buyers (in this case, they didn't disclose that Malachi was an outside dog and didn't properly bathe him or keep him clean)
-Ignorance of selective breeding goals and techniques, and lack of familiarity with the breed standard of the type of animal being bred

Judging from the pictures, I saw several snapped tails (which is not breed standard). I own a snapped tail myself, and I love that part about her, but it's not breed standard.

Breeding 19 litters in one year is honestly not enough time and energy to fully dedicate yourself to every puppy/parent.

A puppy mill - "a large-scale commercial dog breeding operation where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs."

I pulled both definitions from Wikipedia.

BYB can be many things - as can a mill. Let's be honest though, these were things created by the AR activists. In reality, these are likely greedy people who could care less about the breed.

I'm not labeling anything, I'm just saying they are not my kind of people/breeder.

I would personally euthanize a dog before bringing it back to a place like that, if I couldn't find a rescue or some other place to take it.
