I have been transitioning Bourbon for two weeks now from a lower quality chicken to a higher chicken quality feed. We had green loose stool on Wednesday (I have been sick and he might have picked up the bacteria.) Otherwise we have been good more of a yellow tan stool formed.
Then last night he got the runs but it is yellow. And he is half formed and half the runs tonight.

Do you think this is the transition after two weeks [thats one day (four cups) out from 100%] on the new food?
He is going to bland rice diet for a day (this has worked before with loose stool from vaccine. Then I thought if he was solid I would go back to the transitions last amount before 100%. Until this he gobbled the new food. And since it is the same proteins I do not think it is a allergy unless he could be allergic to the higher quality items.

Any ideas I do not want to switch if I do not need to do you think this is a good experiment to since if it is the new food?

I'd do the bland diet then incorporate the new kibble you've been transitioning to so that he's on that 100% unless you need to use up the old food. That's just me though.

How long would you do the bland diet for before you attempt to incorporate the new food?

Not sure if that was directed at me, but if it were me, I'd stick with the bland diet until the dog is consistently having formed, solid stools. After having at least a couple days, or more if the dog is particularly sensitive, of consistently solid stools then I'd slowly reintroduce the new food gradually mixed with the bland diet until you are 100% on the new food with no loose stool.

Did you say you are feeding 4 cups a day?

yes Megan Bourbon it's a total of 4 cups for 1300 calories a day he's only 10 months 53 pounds. He actually is quite tall interim though. We just saw the vet cause he actually was having some reflux in throat issues we thought he might as well to suck so we're on rice and egg and flagyl.
we believe the two issues are not related so I will go back to bland after I deal with his reflux but x-rays look good for that.
