Hi All,

This is sorta of a two fold question put it in the foods section since two questions tie in to food.

1. Jaxy is definitely going through a phase of not eating his food. We literally have to bribe him with crumbling food on top of this good and even then he's smart.
He'll lick the food get the taste off and drop the kibbles out of the good tray. If we leave the food out
eventually he'll eat it. But never in the time allocated in the morning or evening.

2. Is there a food that does not stink so bad...? when he goes it's to the point where I have to hold my breath. You can call me a "germaphobe" but oh man it's baaaaaaaad! he's on (L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Sweet Potato & Fish Dry Dog Formula)

3. I am in the Philadelphia area so with the warm/rainy/humid weather we are seeing. Noticed Jax's temperament is really mellow or calm. I take him for his walk in the am and pm and then dog park every 3-4 days. He just lays around and is really mellow. PHASE or should I take him to the vet? something to be concerned about?

I honestly cant help other than to suggest to try a different food if this one he wont eat and his poop stinks. Its listed as 3 star here, http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/natural-balance-limited-ingredient-diets-dry/. Try to get something in the 4-5 star range.

But my guess is you have tried other foods and has a sensitive stomach or else you wouldnt be using a food that advertises limited ingredients.

I live in Houston so I have some real humid and hot days. The dogs to take it easier when its hot outside. I only have 14 week old huskies so I dont know their full behavior yet.

I would say the same thing, try switching his food to a higher quality food. As for the not eating, it is a well known husky trait :p Cally will sometimes go a day or two without eating and in the warmer weather they eat even less at times. Remember, a healthy dog won't starve themselves so if he is eating eventually then I wouldn't worry too much about it!

You are also entering the teenage faz of huskyhood. He will start testing you in all kinds of new ways. Keep up offering the food for only a set time and then remove it, I'm sure he will eat it for dinner, you can also try a new food as suggested. Our boy jack will stop eating in the summer but never longer then a day, its normal for him, it may be normal for yours but it to soon to tell. With summer heat they do get less active. I'm from philly so I know what ur talking about and your gonna have to try to get the walks in super early or late at night if it ever cools off. I don't miss the summer weather at all there! Try to get to the pocons on ur days off to cool off and hike.

I would also try different foods the 4 and 5 stars ones are probably the best. My female had some problems when we first got her the food I was feeding my male did not agree with her she was gassy and her poop smelled bad I try a few others and found one that agree with both of them.

Also my dogs skip meals all the time in the warmer temps I would not worry about skipping much just feed at set times and pick up the bowls after wards whether it is eaten or not. You dog will not starve himself.

thanks for the input all. I ended up picking up Acana Pacifica dog food and transitioning it over. He ate the food last night and some of it this morning. The store associate also suggested some GAS Enzyme and said to sprinkle it on the food to stop the gas. Was a little hesitant. But let's see, hoping with the new food he'll be a little better.

I can surly see how the heat affects him. He is suuuuper lazy to do anything. Walks are in the early am usually between 5:45-6:45 and then in the evening between 7-8 (or dog park at that time)

Yes Eska ,s appetite has definitly changed as the warmer weather has started(not unusaul for her to skip meals) I would,nt recomend changing food too many times that could just make him more fussy.

a quick update. I stayed on the same food, he actually started eating skips a meal or two but then goes at it when he's hungry.
