Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Athena is my first husky. My husky problems are from my 5 month old digging. She digs up plants. She digs a trench along the fence line. I think she is trying to dig me a moat around the house. I was advised that a shock collar might be my answer but I'm not so sure I agree. Do shock collars pay off with such a stubborn dog? |

| Huskies are diggers it's in their nature.... You can train her to dig in a certain area, some people have sand boxes and have taught their huskies to dig in their (which is what I plan on doing) |

| Loki hasn't gotten much into digging yet, but he likes to throw up the mulch. He seems to hate garden fabric, so he is "helping" me remove it. If he turns into a digger, then he will get his own area. I think that sound like the easiest solution once you know you have a big time digger on your hands. Sounds like you can train little digging out of them, but training a puppy really into to digging to stop would be hard. Is that possible for you?
Otherwise, another member in the garden fourm indicate they seem to hate new plants. I noticed this with him as well since he will give a little bite to existing plants, but tries to rip out the new ones. I have put little fencing around a couple new plants until they stablize and it has seemed to work. |

| I agree with Kimberly, it's in their nature to dig. My hubby hates the fact that Lucian digs, but I've got him to only dig under my daughters swing set. It's just sand and dirt. I'd rather he dig there, then in the middle of the yard somewhere. I just rake the dirt back in the hole when he digs. I would just chase him off the grass, and tell him no if he was digging where I didn't want him to. He eventually figured out where I permitted him to dig. |
