I've had my puppy for about 2 months. She's 4 months old today.
She's my first Siberian Husky, but I fell in love with the breed in my last year of high school and I've been waiting for several years to be able to bring one of these amazing dogs home with me. I finally have the land, space and time to devote to an active dog like this and I'm very excited to have her now.
She is, hands down, the most amazing dog I've ever encountered - she's so very intelligent, alert, playful, friendly, sociable, and good-natured. She has a wonderful, bright, entertaining personality of her own. She's never aggressive or wary toward other dogs or any animal at all, really. She loves cats, and, I've recently found that she likes to nuzzle frogs (or any other animal that will tolerate he for a few minutes before running off) She's got a few little behavior blips, but they're part of being a puppy - teething, nipping at hands when playing, etc She's gentle and affectionate and considerate of my 4 year old son and any other child that approaches her. I really couldn't have asked for a better pup.
I always knew I wanted to have a Husky around but I've fallen so in love with her that within the next year or so, I want to bring one more home. I'd like another female, but would consider a male if they got along well. Right now, she's very laid back with every person or animal she meets and it would be nice if she stayed that way.
I'm doing everything I know to do to keep her engaged and feeling like she's loved and part of the "pack", so to speak, or our family, of course. She fits in well.
Currently, I'm the only person she responds to in terms of commands or correction. She will only walk on a leash if I'm the one holding it, otherwise, she sits down and waits for me to come to her and walk with her, she follows simple commands well, if I give them and listens to "no" and "stop", if I'm the one saying it. It frustrates my husband because he expects her to listen to him too, but she's pretty well decided I'm the leader, I think. He doesn't spend near as much time with her as I do because he travels for work.
Sorry for the ramble. Here are some pictures
the pictures above were taken when I brought her home, she was 8 weeks
She was 3 months there
the most recent photo of her, about a week ago
and just for fun, this is her father:
I do have a photo of her mother, who is also black and white with blue eyes, but I'm pretty sure she gets her looks from her dad.
