2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. After being told our only 2 options were Tucson or Phoenix, I received orders for Mountain Home, Idaho. I've driven through there once, but stayed on 84 when we moved from Hampton, VA to Portland, OR. Is anyone on here from ID? Or does anyone know anything about that place? We will miss Portland AND Oregon, but we are looking forward to yet another change. Should be much nicer winter weather for the dogs, but the summers are about 12 degrees (on average) warmer, which won't be as pleasant as Portland. Should get a little more snow out in ID too. We hardly get a dusting here, and it's only about once a year.

Gotta love those surprise orders, huh?

I have a very good friend who lived for several years in Boise, and she loved it. Another good friend went to University of Idaho, which is in Moscow. From what I've heard (I've only ever been to Coeur D'Alene) there is tons of stuff to do outdoors, and some killer skiing very close by. I would totally move there, I hope you guys really like it.

My parents actually live in Kuna and my dad works in Mountain Home. They lived in CA for many many years, and were extremely relieved to move up there. They don't have huskies, they have boston terriers, corgis, and horses, BUT they do love it up there. I went up just this February to visit and it was extremely cold [for me] with some crazy weather. People up there are really nice! Good luck to you!

Thanks for the replies and info. We are looking forward to moving out of the city and as deep into the country as we can afford. We want BIG land, possibly farmland. We've been told by others who have family around Mountain Home/Boise that you can get 16 or more acres very cheap. We are driving out to ID in a few weeks to check out the area and see what our options will be.

Kevin, I don't know Mt. Home as I have only driven through.
But I love Boise and could live there in a second.
You'll be very close to the southern part of the Sawtooths.
Very few people go in that part.
Two summers ago I was in there and saw no one in a week.
The Stanley and Ketchum areas get most of the use.
