| they are driving me crazy! Bella and Jasper were outside perfectly fine so I go to try and get my nephew to go to the bathroom half way there my brother took over since the little guy goes better for him sometimes, I go to dole out food for when the pups come in and I hear them going at it outside. I seperated them, Bella growling the whole time while trying lunge back at Jasper and had my brother bring her into her crate so I could check them individually. Jaspers got a slice in his gum but he is fine. Bella got two punctures one right above her eye lashes and one up a bit further she was bleeding all over, my shirt looks like I let my nephew paint on me.
One of my mothers friends had been coming up the drive and he said he told them off like we have taught him because one off them scratched at his chest (Jaspers nails are getting long again) and that the next thing he knew they were going at it with each other. He wasn't sure what to do then I came out, and I'm grateful he didn't do anything I wouldn't want him being bitten on accident. So from what I can tell either Bella started because the guy made a pained noise or because he petted both of them at once and not only Bella, this is a bit normal for Bella and I am having a hard time figuring out how to solve this problem with her.
I am having jealousy issues with Bella when it comes to Jasper, she seems to feel she should be the only one getting any attention at all, which I admit may partially be my fault my sister just pointed out to me that I tend to praise Bella more then I do Jasper when she does something good and I am making a conscience effort to praise my boy just as much now that I had it brought to my attention and noticed I do that. I'm not quite sure what to do to get her to see that they are equal to me and to the others in my family. We don't have this big of an issue with Bella and Honee, they will push each other out of the way to get attention or Honee will grab at Bella to drag her away and start playing but we haven't had a fight between these two. Honee has been more aggressive with Bella and ignores Jasper most of the time to go after Bella but we have only noticed actual aggression once and they were seperated immediately, a time out or few usually gets rid of attitudes. But when it comes to my two I have had a few fights and we have prevented more by seperating before the fight could start and it always seems to be Bella starting it and being the one pinned and bleeding when I pull them apart. Bella also doesn't give up when I seperate them, shes always trying to start right back up, Jasper will back up when I pull them apart or at least stay where he is as Bella's being dragged away. I can tell he is overstimulated and would go back to defending himself but he will usually listen even if it takes me getting almost threatening sounding with "stop" or "leave it".
Bella seems to be the alpha between the two and will interfere when I scold Jasper by biting at him. Usually I have to hold her back while I scold Jasper. She picks at Jas all the time, when they come out of the crates in the morning she scratches at the floor and jumps on him bites at his neck and talks a bunch at him just wont leave him alone, he just takes it. So I have been giving her things first, her food a treat etc. Should I not be doing this? I 've never had an issue like this any suggestions on what to do here? I don't to rehome either but if they keep fighting I don't know what else to do. I'm getting heat from my mother because she feels they are getting vicious towards each other, which I could care less about she's given me problems since I was a child and first started wanting pets, but her comments are starting to make me doubt I can deal with these two. I want to do the best I can with them and work through whatever problems arise but I'm a little lost here. |

| I've had some issues with Maya and Kay like this. Maya didn't want to share any attention with Kay, she'd even yell at Sophie and prevent her from coming up to get any attention. When she got like that i would say "Enough" and stop giving them any attention. Also whenever they went for each other or tried to start anything the one who started it gets a time out. Now they don't really fight much and if they do it only lasts about a second. They used to fight a whole lot for the first couple months we had Kay. Hope this helps, if not at least it bumps this up so more people can respond. |
