Feeding Liver? Empty
PostSubject: Feeding Liver?   Feeding Liver? EmptyWed Jun 05, 2013 10:45 am

So I did a search for liver and nothing came up on this (didn't want to create a duplicate topic).

I know this has been discussed quite a bit (at least for some reason I have the feeling it has). How do you guys get your Husky(ies) to eat their livers? I just gave Nanook his first meal of Liver and until now I've never heard him howl lol. All he'd do would sniff it, nibble then howl at it. I tried searing it a bit and giving it back to him, but he just did the same. I took it away from him and will try again for dinner. I know some of you have to shove it down their throats, but thought I'd see if someone had any other ideas. He's not picky with any foods and has eaten anything I've given him including meds (first dog I've had that didn't need peanutbutter with his meds lol). Anyways, just thought I'd check with the rest of you. I have video of it, but I haven't taken the time to get it off my phone and upload it.. if I do I'll post it here.

Have you tried cutting the liver up and mixing smaller portions of it with the other raw food he normally eats?

You could also try sprin I'll king a topper on it like Parmesan cheese, but some songs just lick the topper off and leave the meat.

As a last resort you can use freeze dried liver as a substitute for raw liver if nothing gets him to eat it raw.

Your first point was actually the next step I planned to take if he doesn't eat the liver tonight.

As for the topper no I haven't tried that and I've also heard that some dogs'll just lick them off so I have a feeling he probably will to but we'll see.

As for the freeze dried liver I'll keep that in mind in case the other methods don't work. I'm sure he'd eat those but we'll see.

Thanks for the tips.
