Ahh I know this well. Whenever we start walking my eskimo gets excited and tries to bite at the leashes which in turn causes my newest addition Link to turn around and play bow and try to wrestle with whoever reacts first. What I personally had to do was completely stop, and make everyone sit and calm down. Then we would proceed. Then when Cloud would try to bite at the leash again I'd stop and make him sit and anyone else who was trying to cause trouble. Luckily with the walking belt it makes it easier to grab the leashes and handle everybody. So I would just stop, make them calm down, try again. Never run while they're acting out. Hopefully this helps a bit

I usually place one on either side of me and just go. Though my two don't try to play with each other unless we're walking and typically only at the end of our street. I'm always thinking I may one day end up falling over since they wrap themselves around my legs.

Like Megan said I would just start working with them and seeing how far you can get with them behaving. Maybe at first start with some form of treats out with you and reward them every so often if they're behaving well on the run. When they began to misbehave, stop (even though I know that sucks because your heart rate drops and when I have to stop running my legs cramp easier when I start again) allow them to calm down, wait 15 seconds of them being calm and begin again. This way they can get into their mind that if we behave we can run and if we misbehave we stop and sit. They should pick up on this rather quickly. I know my two have with walking and only start to play with each other right when we're walking back up the driveway to get into the house after the walk.

Thats good advice. I will definitely try the stopping and making them both calm down. Lately I'm been extra sensitive with them needing to behave on runs because all of a sudden if only one of my huskies makes the right move, he can practically back out of his harness and we've had some close calls recently.

Megan, do you have a alpine mushers belt by any chance? I've been using mine for a long time now and all of a sudden if one pulls the right way the belt really losens and I swear it almost pulled off of me the past two days even though i've never had a problem before. Or is there anything that you do with the belt that you have to make sure its secure as can be?

Nope, I have the SASS Walking Belt. Abby (MayaAndSophie) has the alpine belt as well as a few other members, I'll give her this thread and see if she can make a reply for you.

Thanks, i'm just getting so frustrated. It worked great until these last couple of tugs to the side and I can't think of something to help hold the teeth down to keep a constant clamp. someone just needs to create a line of complete husky proof things! Haha.

Yeah, mine had never done it until all of a sudden he lunged almost like sideways? I mean I feel like I can't be putting it wrong now, it just slips through the teeth and through like little loop. So i don't know, maybe it was just a couple of weird flukes.

Hmmm, would they give you another one? I don't know if there is a way you could fix it.

yeah, I think if it does it again I will just email them and see if there is anything they can do or anything that I can add to guarantee it stays on.
