The dark marks in the middle of the tails signify the presence of a precaudal scent glad. Wolves have it also, but very few dog breeds do. Typically, you will see it on breeds that are closely related to wolves...think the akita, siberian husky, malamute.

Although I couldn't find a very good close up of Kato....I will say he has "polka-dots" like my daughter says on the top of his nose.

Kavik's coat is interesting no matter where I look at him. He has a black snout with a white stripe on top, and some white hairs trailing up the center of his forehead. There is also one white splotch right at the front of his bottom jaw. The black splotch covering his head has barely seen red eyebrows. I love the red on the front and back of his head, and under his eyes, plus the random strands of red throughout his body. The black stripe running down his back stops at the base of his tail and there is a black streak in the middle of it. He has a few white hairs at the tip of his tail, which I hope will become more prominent as he gets older. The black tipped ears are a nice touch. The 'white' of his coat is the socks on his feet and a stripped underbelly. It's a weird color combination though, not quite white and looks dirty all the time. The white splotches on his cheeks make him look like a fox. Edit: It's extremely hard to get good pictures of a hyper puppy.

Maya is a puppy and besides her unique coat markings which you can kinda make out in this picture. she has a white tip tail but not sure if that's unique or not. she has a small black dot on her nose. it's kinda hard to get it in a picture though. i'm hoping it stays there as she gets older, she also has a dark streak running down her back the last spots i noticed is she has to rings around her eyes and one is bigger than the other now Zoe, my half husky, has two brown spots above each of her eyes and a white streak on her nose

Bella has straight black lines under her eyes like a football player and also has a white tipped tail. I'll try to get some photos but she doesn't like to sit still long enough to take one and only seems to do cute things when my phone is on the other side of the room.

Meeko has a black tipped tail as well, and he has a black spot right in the middle of his tail, I heard it is a wolf marking, but I am unsure if this is true or not?

Justeen, Megan has already said something like this further up on this page. Here's her quote. - mheath0429 wrote:
