| Our breeder gives all her dog's NuVet Plus and started our puppy out on them too. When we picked her up we got a sample of NuVet Plus and I was thinking yesterday about ordering a bottle of it. No experience with the other brands. |

| I would recommend any of the following: - Nupro - Wholistic Canine Complete - Missing Link
The first 2 in that list would be preferred over the last. _________________ |

| Kale and Violet have been on Nupro Silver for a year now. I definitely saw a difference in Violet (she's 9). Although i'm thinking about going to liquid glucosamine since it's cheaper. I highly recommend Nupro Silver though. |

| Will definitely look into wholistic canine complete. Havent heard about it before. Will do some research on it. I just found below website they claim to be unbiased but think can always take it as 2nd opinion. They do rank Nupro top3.
Anyone heard about HardyPet? |

| It seems like all the novices haven't heard of Annamaet Endure. That is the only one I would use and the only one with Perna and a fiber source to ensure it goes through the system slow enough to be absorbed.
This is a pro grade product used in racing, agility, hunt trialing, herding & schutz. Most if not all of the other commercial products are a complete waste of money, Nupro and Missing Link especially. If you took them to a lab for testing you would find them a fraud. |

| Give me a comparison between Annamaet and other products, with sources, and I might believe you. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Annamaet Endure is a good product for joint support, but that's all it does. My well educated holistic yet "novice" vet and I both prefer a supplement that does a bit more personally. _________________ |

| Val, do you think it is beneficial to supplement, even if the dogs are on a high quality diet? (GL, seems to be doing well for them) |

| Megan, I do, although I never used to before switching to my current holistic vet. I have always fed very high quality diets and never felt it necessary to supplement. When I started seeing my holistic vet who strongly advocates raw feeding (or Orijen if you absolutely must feed kibble instead of raw), she explained to me why she recommends supplementing no matter how good the diet is, she even recommends supplementing on a raw diet. To keep it short and sweet, she recommends supplementing with something like Nupro, Wholistic Canine Complete, or Missing Link because it fills in the gaps so to speak on nutrients and/or can give the dogs an extra little boost. Of course my vet went into more detail and explained it a lot better but it was too much for me to remember and this was 3 years ago, but you can kind of get the gist (I hope). I started out using Nupro (Gold) at first and then once my dogs hit the age of 5 I started using Nupro Silver with Joint Support just as a preemptive measure. My vet introduced me to Wholistic Canine Complete (WCC) last year and I am going to start rotating between Nupro Silver and WCC w/ joint support. Thing is, I buy in bulk so I have a bit of Nupro to finish before starting Wholistic Canine but my mother in law uses WCC and she's happy with it. I know a lot of people say you don't need to supplement if you feed a good quality diet and I lived by that when I started out. So it was really my holistic vet who convinced me to supplement regardless. And please understand, my vet is not your average uneducated vet when it comes to nutrition. She is holistic all the way and has spent years studying animal nutrition for dogs and cats which are her specialty and I know that she knows what's she's talking about when it comes to feeding recommendations. Take that for what it's worth. I still always research anything she recommends that I am unfamiliar with and every time she's been spot on so I trust her 110%. _________________ |

| Feeding raw- a lot of the "hardcore" raw feeders are against supplementing. I supplement with quite a few things, but it's a rotation.
It's a decision that each person has to come to on their own. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

Very true. Supplements on a good diet are not "necessary" by any means assuming your dog(s) are healthy. I choose to supplement because I, personally, think my dogs are better off with it than without it. Have I noticed a difference in my dogs when they're on (general, not joint) supplements versus when they were not? No, but I do like the peace of mind that I get from supplementing. After all, I take a vitamin everyday regardless of how well I eat yet not everyone does. As Kristina said, it's a personal decision that only you can make. _________________ |

| Hi all thanks for your great suggestion I have decided to start her on wholistic canine complete. When it comes to supplement especially for joints I am a huge advocate as I believe in supplement for preventative measure. Since I am planning on to add in sardine oil daily as well so I would need to add vitamin e in her diet for the extra omega 3 she's getting. Would normal human vitamin e alright to give ( adjusting the dosage)? Thanks !
