Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | So i take my 8 week puppy Kiba out in the morning to do his thing then I feed him and take him out as soon as his done , he usually takes a nap after that for about 3 hours or more I take him out as soon as he wakes up and he might pee or might just lay down on the grass after me picking him up and him laying down for 20 min I take him inside which and then everything goes wrong at this point and he either pees inside or starts to pee inside and finishes outside I feed him again at 6pm then take him out he just pees I put him in his crate because he didn't poop so just take make sure there are no accidents I keep him there until he whines or I see he might need to go then I take him out after playing and him sleeping for awhile then I take him out before I go to sleep and at about 2am and then the cycle continues . He has peed 3 times inside and twice in his crate which were my fault for not being quick enough or noticing he needed to go
1- when he lays down for 20 min I just go inside is this alright or should I stay longer.
2- should I be crating him more often he only stays in to sleep , when he does not poop and when I can't watch him .
ANY TIPS WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANK YOU

| 1. If you take him inside after he lays down and he didn't go potty, put him back in the crate. Try again in ten minutes. If he still doesn't go, back in the crate he goes. If a dog is gonna go, they usually go in like the first ten minutes, I think twenty may be too long. You want him to associate that time with pottying, not anything else. Also, do you treat him after he goes outside? If not, I would start it. This helped me train Karli.
2. I don't see why you would need to crate him more often? Mine only eat and sleep in their crates (or the lab sits in there when she wont go potty). You could attach him to you via a leash and this way he can't sneak off to potty where you can't see him. If you catch him, carry him outside and repeat the word "potty." He'll pick it up eventually. |
